Quick Tip, a real simple fix if your kick drum is not standing out in the mix. By setting an equalizer on the bass guitar to drop the frequency down around 80 Hz just a few decibels, the kick drum does not not have to compete with the sonic space that the bass guitar is occupying. Play around with the Q (width of the EQ band) level and amount of decibels and wonderful things can happen.
